Fujian flue-cured · mid-slim · red-heritage design
Septwolves Gutian Gold Mid-Slim
The gift-ready mid-slim of Septwolves’ Gutian line — a light (8 mg), clean flue-cured 96 mm stick from Fujian in a red-and-gold, leather-grained hard box that openly echoes Zhonghua’s gold mid-slim at well under the price. Elegant and light rather than bold; closer to a Gold / lights profile than a full king.

Smoker · Cultural Notes
How Chinese smokers talk about it — impressions and culture, not official claims.
How smokers describe it
Entry
Lights soft and gentle — a clean, lightly green-fresh flue-cured opening with a faint nutty note and little weight behind it. Low strength and an easy mid-slim draw, exactly what the 8 mg figure promises.
Mid
The best stretch: woody and honey-sweet notes come up over a smooth throat, with a rounder, richer aroma and decent satisfaction. Fuller here than at either end, though still a light smoke by any measure.
Finish
Fine and clean, with a weak sweet return. Honest caveats: the back half thins out as the narrow stick burns, and a few smokers pick up a slight off-note in the very last pulls.
the everyday of it
Gutian is a red-heritage name. The original cigarette was born in 1971 at the Longyan Cigarette Factory in western Fujian and took its pack image from the meeting hall of the Gutian Congress, the landmark 1929 gathering of the Chinese Red Army; the line was later folded into the Septwolves family and the Gutian name revived in 2015. This Gold Mid-Slim is the dressed-up, gift-ready tier of that story — a red-and-gold box with an embossed leather-like grain and raised gold-foil lettering, built to be handed over at a table as much as smoked. Its whole look is a quiet nod to Zhonghua’s gold mid-slim, offered at well under half the price.
gifting
A mid gifting tier, honestly placed. The red-and-gold, leather-grained box reads formal and business-like, and at its roughly 50-yuan tier it makes a presentable hand-to for a colleague or an occasion without the outlay of a true prestige carton. Set expectations plainly: it looks the part and leans on the Gutian red-culture story, but it is a mid-tier gift, not a face-weight luxury line. For a lighter, more personal gesture the thinner Gutian Gold Slim sits below it; the Gutian Success Mid-Slim sits above for a heavier one.
Smoker terminology
Gutian Congress — The landmark 1929 meeting of the Chinese Red Army in western Fujian — the red-heritage event the Gutian line commemorates and takes its pack imagery from.
Zhong zhi — ‘Mid-slim’ — the 96 mm medium gauge of this stick: thinner than a king, fuller than a slim, with a lighter draw.
Telling the versions apart
Gutian is a broad line, so confirm which stick you are buying. This is the mid-slim — a 96 mm medium-gauge stick at 8 mg tar / 0.7 mg nicotine / 6 mg carbon monoxide, carrying the full Septwolves-Gutian name and the small-pack barcode 6901028211796. An older plain Gold Mid-Slim listing also circulates at the same tier under a different barcode; separately, the thinner Gutian Gold Slim and the higher Gutian Success Mid-Slim are different cigarettes with their own lengths and figures. The barcode is the constant to check.
Good to know
Is this a strong cigarette?
No. At 8 mg tar / 0.7 mg nicotine in a 96 mm mid-slim it is a light, lights-style smoke. Heavy smokers usually find it thin — that is the honest trade-off for its smooth, easy draw.
What does it taste like?
A clean, lightly green-fresh flue-cured aroma: a faint nutty entry, then woody and honey-sweet notes through the middle over a smooth throat, with a fine clean finish and a weak sweet return. Pleasant and elegant rather than bold, and the back half thins out.
Why do reviews rate it only middling?
The aroma and the pack draw praise, but at 8 mg in a mid-slim the smoke is light and thins through the back half, and a few smokers note a slight off-note in the last pulls. We’d rather tell you it’s a change-of-pace smoke than oversell it.
Is it a copy of Zhonghua?
No — it’s its own Fujian cigarette, but the red-and-gold, leather-grained design is openly reminiscent of Zhonghua’s gold mid-slim, offered at well under half the price. The blend is lighter and the figures are its own.
How do I know it’s genuine?
Scan the small-pack barcode 6901028211796 before opening the carton — it should return this exact mid-slim edition. On a real pack the gold ‘Gutian’ lettering is raised embossed foil and the laser hologram shifts as it turns; flat, dull printing is a warning sign.
How does it ship?
Tracked, in plain unmarked outer packaging. Import duty and personal-import limits are your responsibility and vary by country; if a tracked parcel is seized, our reship terms apply.
